PartnerAlliances announced today the launch of ipNavigate, an innovative IP Licensing program that utilizes a new intellectual property search engine, and a tour of the nations most respected research institutions.

PartnerAlliances’ ipNavigate program accelerates the research-to-revenue cycle through a unique model that bridges the gap between academic and private research institutions, and industry. ipNavigate will help biotechnology and high-technology companies leverage the research capabilities of the nations most respected academic and private research institutions including Caltech, Jet Propulsion Labs, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, UCLA, UCSF, and USC.

ipNavigate consists of a four-day tour with visits to each research institution’s Office of Technology Licensing, coupled with an advanced search engine (www.ipNavigate.com) that aggregates the intellectual property search across all research institution sites – enabling PartnerAlliances’ clients to quickly navigate to the research areas that interest them most. The ipNavigate program includes a hosted partner relationship management tool to help PartnerAlliances’ clients manage the business development activities associated with their IP Licensing and licensing initiatives.

According to Tim Curley, Managing Partner at PartnerAlliances, “The ipNavigate program will streamline the relationship-building and intellectual property review process between our industry or commercialization clients, and our research institution partners. The trend towards outsourcing non-core R&D and licensing-in activities is rapidly emerging. Biotechnology and high-technology firms will continue to make R&D investments in the areas they hold core competencies in, however, as these companies expand their product portfolios into areas like MEMS or Nanotechnology, they can achieve a greater return-on-investment by licensing-in or acquiring intellectual assets already under development at leading research institutions. ipNavigate will streamline and accelerate these activities.”

Alvin Viray, Biomedical Engineering Patent & Licensing Officer at the Office of Technology Alliances, UC Irvine comments: “The ipNavigate program is outstanding in terms of its function and approach. The program provides us with a level of confidence, when PartnerAlliances brings potential candidates to review our intellectual property portfolio, we know that the first level of due diligence has been done. In other words, PartnerAlliances’ clients will come to the table with pre-determined and pre-qualified areas of interest, allowing us to focus on the most important technology interests of the client.”

Rajeev Mishra, Director of Home Entertainment at Epson said: “We are always looking for ways to accelerate the process of discovering new and innovative technologies, technologies that can be utilized or integrated into next-generation products. PartnerAlliances’ ipNavigate program offers a set of tools, resources, and expertise – allowing high-technology firms to accelerate their technology licensing and strategic alliance activities.”
