Randy Fehr, P.Eng
Randy brings a wealth of multi-disciplinary experience to the Advisory Council spanning R&D to
Business Development providing a strong and pragmatic approach to business management. Randy is
a proven entrepreneurial leader with executive level experience from ideation through exit strategies
in the high tech networking and e-Business segments. Randy's experience culminates from executive
level experience (start-up to IPO), proven success in driving strategic business planning, building
and leading cost effective R&D teams, securing private and public financing, while serving in senior
management positions at Bell Northern Research, Nortel Networks, and most recently as CTO and Vice
President of R&D at Wireless Networks Inc.
Beginning his career at Bell Northern Research, Randy was a member of Bell's Scientific Staff working
in software development and system trials for the Public Telephony Network. A member of the Global
First Application Systems team who's primary repsonsibiltiy was to ensure a smooth deployment of
large public telephony systems into Beta sites such as Bell Canada, British Telecom, and Southwestern
Bell, Randy quickly earned a reputation as a pioneering expert in the field of telecommunications.
Randy then went on to an eight-year journey at Northern Telecom. At Nortel Randy held many senior
level positions within Nortel's Multimedia Communication Systems, Enterprise Networks, and Clarify
e-Business Divisions. Randy was the Technology Director - Strategic Alliances for Nortel's Enterprise
Network Division (a $5.7B Enterprise solutions division), and later held the position of Chief
Technologist within the Clarify Software Division. As Chief Technologist, Randy reported to the
CTO and was responsible for developing and implementing a value integration strategy spanning
Nortel's traditional 'hardware' business and it's emerging software/e-Business initiatives.
In his role as Chief Technologist, Randy led technical teams across multiple Nortel/Clarify
divisions and external business consulting and integration partners, i.e. PWC, KPMG, and CGEY.
Randy was additionally responsible for developing and driving a major strategic alliance partnership
between Nortel and Intel Corporation.
Currently serving as CTO and Vice President of R&D at Wireless Networks Inc., a networking company
focused on the development and delivery of secure wireless network appliances, Randy is responsible
for developing and leading a core business restructuring in addition to all R&D / Technology
initiatives for the Company.
Randy holds the P.Eng distinction, representing the highest standards of engineering knowledge,
experience and professionalism in Canada. Randy earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
and Computer Science majoring in telecommunications, RF systems, and network architecture from the
University of Saskatchewan, Canada.
